Bloodborne Pathogens & Eye Protection

Two topics in one webinar! Both are important to keep harmful disease, chemicals and projectiles from entering our bodies.

Bloodborne Pathogens – Of course healthcare workers, doctors, nurses and first responders are most at risk for exposure to bloodborne pathogens. But every day our housekeepers, custodians and maintenance workers are exposed to bloodborne pathogens in our general business facilities. In this short general overview, we’ll talk about what bloodborne pathogens are, and the common, general business workplace hazards, especially when applying first aid. Other topics include:

  • Overview of OSHA Standard 1910.1030
  • Basic bloodborne pathogen PPE protection and handling procedures
  • Vaccinations, precautions and labelling
  • Cleaning, disinfecting and reporting

Eye Protection – In EnPro Industries facilities, where we bend, twist and grind metals, we should be wearing eye protection all the time. But which type of eye protection is best for the situation: glasses, goggles or face shields? We’ll talk about different hazards and situations for eye protection, including welding and driving. Other topics include:

  • Dust prevention and cleaning
  • Laboratory and custodial considerations
  • Eye wash options and first aid
